Greetings! My name is Gregory M. Proffit. 2014-2015 will be my third year as the Principal at McPolin. It’s a personal and professional honor to be a member of the McPolin community. This is my 26th year of service in Wyoming, Texas, and Utah public schools. I’ve graduated from Evanston High (WY), The University of Wyoming at Laramie, and The University of Texas at Austin. This fall I anticipate completing my Utah State University doctoral dissertation. (Yeah!)
I began my career teaching Reading and Reading Improvement in Brownsville TX. Then I taught 6th grade and 8th grade Reading and Social Studies in Austin TX, where I was also an Assistant Principal, Principal, and District Administrator. For the past 17 years I have been an educator in the Park City School District. I love kids, teachers, and schools. My wife Sheri is a teacher at Trailside Elementary. My sons Adam and Bridger attend Park City High School. I enjoy reading, riding, teaching, learning, singing, swimming, hiking, motivation & organizational theory, problem-solving, principled-decision making and hobby farming. (Truly, I’m fascinated by all the facets of our complex modern life!)
I look forward to working with the kids and to meeting with parents personally. I’ll see you on the sidewalk and playground, before or after school. Or, please make an appointment with the office to see me just to chat. Onward into a great school year!
Land Trust Plans
Who creates the School Improvement and Land Trust Plans? The School Community Council writes the plans and sets the schoolwide academic goals. Want to get involved? We're seeking school community council parent nominees for the 2014-2016 term. Questions, or need more information? Please e-mail email@example.com
How will the school spend next year's Land Trust dollars? $3000, Kindergarten Boot Camp for 20 school-selected kindergartners to get ready for the school year. $3900, to employ a Science Kits Manager for 2nd - 5th graders. The students will be conducting inquiry-based science in the regular classroom. $20,100, for Spanish and English literacy interventions. We will employ staff to work with primary grade children who are struggling to read in English and/or Spanish.
