Thanks to all of you for showing your commitment to our school community by attending parent-teacher conferences. We had excellent participation. Many thanks to our PCHS Latinos in Action and the other volunteers who helped with conference interpretation. Thanks also to our wonderful parents who provided dinner and snacks throughout the week. Yummy! And very much appreciated!
All Wheel Sports A show like no other – this high-octane ride will be fun for all ages. Combining dancers, trampoline artists, aerialists, pro scooters and cheer stunts with extreme skaters and bike riders, All Wheel Sports delivers a holiday feast of theatrical thrills and heart-pumping performance. McPolin 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th grade students will attend a preview of the show Friday 12/6/13, 9:30 - 10:30. Families are invited to purchase tickets for the full show at the Eccles Center, Saturday 12/7/13, 7:00.
Student Safety, AM Dropoff / PM Pickup - Some tips: Arrive early, drive slowly, please no curb parking or idling. Patience.
Winter Dress - We live in an alpine environment! Children should be dressed to go outside in all weather for lunch and grade level recess. Very rarely will we have inside recess - only in cases of extreme conditions with subzero temperatures, wind, and precipitation. Please dress your kids appropriately. Contact the school for assistance, 645.5630, if you are struggling getting winter-appropriate clothing for your children.
Our Elementary Visual Arts program, under the direction of Julie Finnegan, is getting underway. Please contact email@example.com to meet her call for enlisting parent classroom volunteers. Julie is the Visual Arts Facilitator at McPolin and Parley's Park Elementary Schools.

News from the McPolin Art Room!
If we haven’ t met yet, my name is Julie Finnegan and I am the new art teacher for McPolin and Parleys Park elementary schools. I have been teaching art in Park City for the past 12 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your children art and am excited about the new E.V.A. (Elementary Visual Arts) curriculum being provided by the Kimball Art Center.
This week we are studying renowned Mexican female artist, Frida Kahlo. The children will be learning the basic structure of the face and then creating their own self portraits.
I will be at school for the first two weeks of every month, except for December when I will be here for just the first week. Please note your child’s art day so they may dress appropriately. We don’t want to ruin any treasured clothing!
If you would like to assist in your child’s art class you are welcome to come in and help out! Check with your child’s classroom teacher for their art day and time. I would also love help with hanging art in the hallways or the classroom. The kids are so enthusiastic about art and we are looking forward to a fun-filled year and some great creations!
