Principal's Message
Dear Parents:
On behalf of the staff and the PTO, I would like to welcome you and your family to another school year at McPolin Elementary. If you are new to McPolin, you will soon learn that this community shares a great deal of pride in the educational excellence that permeates our school. We invite you to become a part of our team, join the PTO, and share the McPolin experience along with your student(s).
Along with having high expectations for ourselves and for our students, four core values guide the practices of our staff when working with students.
- R. Respect
- O. Organization
- C. Cooperation
- K. Kindness
One of my goals for this school year is to increase my presence in the classroom to ensure that these core values are implemented consistently throughout the school. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be designated in my schedule as coaching days in the classroom. It is my belief that my presence in classrooms will have a direct and positive impact on student learning. These coaching days will support teachers and students in every department.
Your thoughts and concerns are of great importance to me, and I highly value parent and community interaction. It is my belief that my dedicated coaching days will, in fact, enhance communication with students, staff and parents. In order to implement this plan, parents need to understand that I may not be readily available to meet when you drop in or telephone. In order to expedite your request and maintain effective communication with our parent community, I strongly suggest that you use the following system when seeking information or resolution to a problem:
- Issues with a teacher: please call or e-mail the teacher
- Issues in regard to classroom or grade level should be directed to teachers.
- Issues pertaining to scheduling, transcripts, report cards, or of a personal nature, please contact my secretary, Veronica Claridge or the school counselor, Johnna Roussos.
- If your issue is not resolved satisfactorily and you must speak to me, please contact my secretary Veronica Claridge and make an appointment during one of my office days.
If you would like further information about my coaching days, it will be one of the topics at our next PTO meeting. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support of our instructional program. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we implement these practices.
Sincerely,
Robert Edmiston, Principal
