PTO
McPolin Elementary is a GREAT place to go to school because of the great kids, great teachers and great parents. The parents understand that volunteering their time and money can substantially improve the learning experience for all of the kids.
What does the Parent Teacher Organization Do?
The Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) parent volunteers are involved in helping the school in so many ways -- sometimes they are paying for programs, events or equipment, and sometimes they will organize and help manage events. And sometimes they will just help the school administration carry out their projects. Together we all can make a difference in these children's lives.
Some of the Events Planned for this Year are:
Back to School Night
Freaky Fall Festival
Book Fair
Spirit Week
Sally Foster Fundraiser
Dads and Donuts
Father/Daughter Dance
Mother/Son Muscle Mania
Science Fair
Cinco de Mayo Party
Field Day
Movie Night
Learn to Skate
Ski Program
AfterSchool Spanish Classes
5th Grade Trip to National Abilities Center
And More!
Fundraising is an important part of the PTO because so many of the activities and equipment are only available if we raise money. In addition to the items above, we are currently raising money for:
Mini-grants are really important to the teachers. Each teacher has a wish list of things they would like to purchase that will help our kids learn more. These are items that aren't funded in other ways and so it is up to us to try to help the teachers help our kids!
Athletic Equipment
Sketch Books
Audio Enhancement -- This is an expensive item (approx $1,700 per class) that will help all kids in each class hear everything the teacher is saying. Consists of special microphones, amplifier and speakers in each class. The teachers who have used this type of audio system say it really is helpful.
Local companies are also great supporters of the kids and the PTO. This year Travel Clean Car Wash has stepped up to be a major contributor to our PTO. We would love to find a few other companies willing to help in a similar way!
Anyone with the desire to help our kids in the quest to learn and grow can help us. If you aren't sure how to help, give one of us a call!
The PTO is 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations are typically deductible.
